CEO and Cofounder

I started Mind Armor because of my experiences as a youth athlete, raising my own student-athlete, and coaching little league and select ball. Throughout this journey, it became clear that the emphasis in most coaching practices is heavily skewed towards physical development. While skill training, conditioning, and strategy are undeniably important, I never encountered a coach who addressed the mental aspects of sports in a meaningful way. Phrases like "be mentally tough," "get over it and move on," or "don't let it ruin the rest of your game" were commonplace, yet they often lacked actionable guidance. Athletes were left to navigate their mental challenges without the necessary tools or support, which is crucial for fostering resilience and focus on the field.

Incorporating mental sports performance training into athletic programs is essential for several reasons. First, it equips athletes with the strategies they need to cope with pressure, setbacks, and the inevitable ups and downs of competition. Mental training helps develop skills such as visualization, mindfulness, and self-talk, which empower athletes to perform at their best, even in high-stakes situations. Moreover, addressing the mental side of sports can enhance overall well-being, helping young athletes manage stress and maintain a positive outlook, which is vital for their long-term enjoyment of the sport. Ultimately, a comprehensive approach that includes mental training not only improves performance but also cultivates a healthier, more balanced mindset, allowing athletes to thrive both on and off the field.
